Environmental Policy

The Warehow team fully understand the importance of working to minimise the impact on the environment caused by business. It is our policy to:

  • Conduct our operations fully in accordance with all UK environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Wherever possible we utilise online meeting platforms to reduce unnecessary travel.
  • We offer our clients options to use recycled or plastic free packaging and encourage clients not to use unnecessary ‘over boxing’ or packaging.
  • Where available we internally always strive to use second hand or recycled boxes for product storage.
  • Where selling channels permit, we encourage clients not to include printed customer invoices within their parcels. This is usually a replication of information already contained in customer emails, or online.
  • Where practical we implement initiatives to reduce energy consumption within our business, such as the introduction of LED and PIR lighting across our estate. When any machinery or equipment is replaced, we will always look to take advantage of the low environmental impact options where these are available without a disproportionate impact on the fees we charge our clients.
  • Our policy is to only fully heat areas of the warehouses where staff are performing ‘static’ activity such as at pack benches or in offices with the provision of localised heating. We provide fleeces and gloves as required to ensure our team are well looked after when working in the cooler areas of our sites. We do however always ensure working temperatures are adequate.
  • We reduce waste by compacting and recycling materials such as waste cardboard wherever possible and by providing facilities for recycling by employees, at work.
  • If suppliers do not want faulty products returned, we encourage and facilitate donation to local charities wherever feasible.
  • We enable employees to reduce their environmental impact at work by minimising the use of paper and printing inks through facilities such as handheld scanners, document scanning and electronic storage.
  • We work with partners to identify high retuning products where improved online product information could significantly reduce returns.
  • We’re mindful of established wildlife habitats and considering the needs of local wildlife at our sites, especially around site permitters and hedges.
